iPod classic update 1.0.2 fixed ALL of the lag problems. Everything is perfect and sweet as now.
The good: Very quick to release the 'magic update' which fixed all the lag.
The bad: The lag was there in the first place
im looking to buy one and i dont know if its any good?
One week of operation the 160gb froze and would not play songs. When trying to refresh the Ipod it freezes and will not complete. Now I have to go through all the hoops of getting it fixed. Not a very easy product when It breaks after one sync.
The good: I worked for a week and we had over 6000 songs on it.
The bad: It started very slow when working with the computer and after the update it totally crashed. I expected better from Apple.
love it. and hate it.
The good: The ipod classic has 3 free games on it, and i love all of them. it plays the music very good, and the screen is bright. before i had a shuffle and i hated it, i love how the screen is big and you can see the cover art and the name of the song.
The bad: this ipod freezes all the time and it wont unfreeze until like 2 hours later when im toggling the hold switch and pressing menu. sometimes the wheel thing is slow and it wont move to the artist that i want. ALSO i HATE how the wheel was so easy to get scratched. there are so many scratches on it, and on the back of the ipod too there were a lot. and i wanted an ipod with around 8 GB, i didnt want the touch because thats stupid. and i dont like the ipod nanos because they are small and ugly. the 80 gb is too much, who carries around 20,000 songs? i only have almost 2000 on my ipod with 16 music videos and 2 movies..
Great mp3 player!
The good: Beautiful design and ease of use.
The bad: It's screen is still small.
Terrible, the damn thing keeps freezing on me. I have 130GB library and it takes me about 24hours to load everything on again after performing a restore
The good: nice-ish when it works
The bad: I'll never buy and ipod again because of the problems with this unit
Ive only had it a couple of weeks but Im very happy so far. Maybe the current models have been improved..no lagging, skips etc. Im not sure how it would go whilst jogging or sport activities, but hey..I didnt really buy it for that anyway, my nano can take that job on.
The good: Snazzy!! Great storage capacity, Ive got a huge music collection, but I shouldnt run out of room in a hurry.
The bad: Im paranoid as to what will happen if i were to drop it!..or even wear it whole joggin etc
i love my ipod! i got it a year ago and it has been the best thing i ever bought. a year later and i have absolutely no problems with it. mine is the 80GB so i don't have trouble with limited space. an honest to god good buy.
The good: heaps of space good picture reliable and sturdy(i may have dropped it a few times and it's fine) everything about it is great
The bad: um, honestly, none
Beyond crappy earplugs. If sound quality means anything to you these need to be replaced.
A lurid piece of toilet paper as your instruction manual, scrawled with a half dozen words. Nonexistant testing on the unit, so shipped like a box of chocolates: you really don't know what bugs you will encounter along the way.
You have to connect to the beyond crappy, iTunes to download the music from your pc., and then you get sync. problems, with some songs loading, and others not!?!
The good: Sleek, great looking, loads of space.
The bad: Full of weird, inconsistent, intermitent and totally frustrating problems. What goes wrong today may go wrong tomorrow, or you may get another problem altogether. I can't believe that Apple should have shipped this product after a decent testing period was allowed for - my first and my VERY LAST Apple.
QUESTION. why doesnt the conection that plugs into the computer (usb port).work in the usb port of my new tv.all as i get is a few bits of album art.
The good: capasity.I love new technology
The bad: limited uses. functionality problems with everything around it.

A nice music player, but a disappointment in the minor things that may (or not) matter to you.
I'll stick with my 4th gen iPod for now. Maybe a firmware update to the classic to address the cons might change that.
The good: Sleek, feels robust, impressive battery life, bright screen. Nice eye candy.
The bad: Sluggish response time, esp. compared with the previous and generation 4 iPod models. Interface quirks and non-configurable design decisions that make no sense at all, like the "clock" screen saver (instead of title/artist as with previous models) or the cover flow that doesn't support any other sorting than by artist (album seems like a more obvious choice?). And what's the point of deliberately disabling video out except with a 50 $ add-on kit? Well, cash, of course. Well, mine's back to the store after one day. "Not A Happy Customer."
