i bought the state of the art asus with linux. major problems . wouldn't boot up properly and impossible to get epson printer drivers that work.got a refund and bought a toshiba with xp. haven't looked back
The good: it works fine, everything you would expect. a mini version of a toshiba laptop. which i also have. suggestion - buy in out of the uk. i got mine for 225 pounds which equals $470
The bad: not as compact as a asus and the keyboard is a bit tight and the graphics resolution is not that of a top end machine.
The overall styling is fine fi you are concerned about functionality rather than pretension, HOWEVER the grey blue graphics on the keyboard are difficult to see in good light and impossible to see in only slightly dim conditions. A complete disaster. It is such a fundemental flaw you wonder how this model ever made it out the factory door. No wonder Toshiba are giving them away with TV's (fortunately my HD TV works great!) I have given it to my kids to use - with a full size keyboard!
The good: Apart from the keyboard everything works as you would want and expect it to.
The bad: Keyboard
Had mine for about 4 months as a thought to provide compact internet and email for travelling and an adjunct to my main workstation at work.
The good: It is small. and light. So it wont be hard to throw it a really long way so I never see it again.
The bad: First the keypad started to pack up. Half the letters didnt work. So now I work with a USB external keyboard. Then the mousepad started to play up and was always a bit difficult to use being too small. So now have a usb mouse. Have to say most disappointed. Rang toshiba outlet and was told not much they could do as could not varify it wasnt my fault. Read the internet posts and its all a common problem with these crappy machines.

This is a great little netbook. I put open office on it and my 13y old loves it. and it is often borrowed by his big sister instead of using her 17" The battery is a bit hot but so is my U405 battery. They don't run as cool as the bigger ones. The keyboard is heaps bigger than PDAs so you just adjust. That isn't a problem.
The good: so light you can carry it anywhere but heaps more useful than a PDA. Seems better than the current competition.
The bad: A bit hot.
