Step 5: Install the drivers

SATA drives require no special software drivers, but you'll need to install drivers for your RAID controller, following the manufacturer's instructions. When booting your system for the first time after installing the Adaptec Serial ATA RAID 1210SA, insert the Adaptec CD in your optical drive and exit the CD's autorun menu when it appears. Click Windows XP's Found New Hardware message bubble to open the wizard, choose "Install the software automatically," and click Next. If a message appears about Windows logo testing for the driver, choose Continue Anyway. Click Finish when prompted. If the Found New Hardware wizard appears again, follow the same instructions to complete the installation.

Windows Device Manager

To ensure that your RAID controller is properly installed, go to Device Manager and click the plus sign next to SCSI and RAID controllers. You should see an entry for your controller.
