In this feature we looked at 16 Budget PCs. And, in the process, we had our first look at the all new AMD Duron processor. We also received Celeron-, Cyrix-, Pentium III- and Athlon-based machines.

All the PCs we received were equipped with 128MB of RAM and were supposed to have come with at least a 15GB hard disk drive. We also suggested that all the PCs arrive with 15in or greater display monitors. In the end, we couldn't believe what some vendors were able to put together for under $2000! How does a 1.1GHz Athlon processor with a 20GB HDD, 32MB graphics card, DVD drive, and a 17in monitor sound?

Here's how the PCs did.
