    Expensive Chris Megson -- 08/09/09

To purchase this machine as a Lenovo D20 With a 24 inch Monitor, a Keyboard and a Mouse, you are looking at over $7000, and that is with the Basic warranty, no upgrades and only 2GB RAM.

To purchase the machine alone, no monitor, no keyboard or mouse, you are looking at more than $4200.

I have just priced what I can sell a system with similar or better specifications for, and here is what I came up with.

    CPU: 2 x INTEL XEON E5520 2.26GHz 1066FSB 8MB LGA1366
    Motherboard: INTEL S5000VSA4DIMM DUAL XEON
    Case: INTEL SC5650DP PEDESTAL/6U 600W CASE
    Blu-Ray: PIONEER BDR-203BK BLU-RAY WRITER SATA
    Video: SAPPHIRE 4890 1GB DDR5 (2xDVI, HDMI) PCI-E
HDD: 4 x SEAGATE 1 TB AS SATAII 32MB (Raid will reduce total capacity from 4GB depending on Raid Type used)
    Memory: GeIL 4G KIT ULTRA ** DDR3-2133MHz ** (2x2G) 9-9-9
Keyboard & Mouse: LOGITECH DELUXE 660 CORDLESS K/B & MOUSE
Monitor: BENQ G2420HD 24 INCH WIDE LCD (2ms/D-sub/DVI-D/HDMI,1080p)
And of course, Windows XP Professional

All this, for a price tag of $5500.

That is a whole lot more space, a whole lot more processing power and comes with all the extras, including monitor, and a powerful video card to boot.

All in all, Lenovo are way overpriced for this machine.

    CPU's Chris Megson -- 08/09/09 (in reply to #320272052)

This includes also 2 CPU's. Both XEON E5520 2.26Ghz processors.

The Lenovo is only offering 1 CPU, and I am sure thay will whack another $1000 for a second CPU.

My Mistake Chris Megson -- 08/09/09

I misread, and unfortunately, there is no Edit option to change my reply to this article.

So I have done another spec agaist the S20 not the D20.

The S20 with 1 x 250GB Hard Disk, 24" Screen, Keyboard & Mouse and Basic Warranty is $3987

    My version:

    CPU: INTEL XEON E5520 2.26GHz 1066FSB 8MB LGA1366
    Motherboard: INTEL S5000VSA4DIMM DUAL XEON
    Case: INTEL SC5650DP PEDESTAL/6U 600W CASE
    Blu-Ray: PIONEER BDR-203BK BLU-RAY WRITER SATA
    Video: SAPPHIRE 4890 1GB DDR5 (2xDVI, HDMI) PCI-E
HDD: 4 x SEAGATE 1 TB AS SATAII 32MB (Raid will reduce total capacity from 4GB depending on Raid Type used)
    Memory: GeIL 4G KIT ULTRA ** DDR3-2133MHz ** (2x2G) 9-9-9
Keyboard & Mouse: LOGITECH DELUXE 660 CORDLESS K/B & MOUSE
Monitor: BENQ G2420HD 24 INCH WIDE LCD (2ms/D-sub/DVI-D/HDMI,1080p)
And of course, Windows XP Professional

    Price Tag: $3950

    Differences:
    4 1 TB hard disks, compared to 1 x 250GB
Blu-Ray Burner as opposed to DVD Burner

Tha ability to accept 4 hard disks as opposed to a maximum of 3, which in turn makes Raid 5 pointless.

Ths S20 is more reasonably priced than the D20 that is for sure, but I suspect you don't save money with Lenovo without reason.
