Ericsson has introduced the first consumer Bluetooth product, the Bluetooth Headset and phone adaptor.

The wireless headset is worn on the ear, and connects to a mobile phone via a radio link, allowing access to the phone from up to ten metres away--the phone need not be in plain view.

The headset features a built-in radio chip that acts as a connector between the headset and Bluetooth adaptor on the phone. Users have the ability to answer their phones by pressing a button located on the headset, and place calls by pressing another button and utilising the voice-activated dialling feature--even if the phone is in the user's bag or briefcase at the time.

The Ericsson Bluetooth Headset is compatible with the Ericsson T20s, T28s, R310s, R320s, and A2618s mobile phones.
