The latest gadget offering from Motorola has just arrived in the form of a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) mobile phone with Internet access capabilities -- the Motorola Accompli A6188. It allows users to brandish it as an organiser, a mobile phone and an Internet access device.
Weighing 155 grams and measuring 98.4mm x 58.7mm x 28.5mm, the Accompli A6188 supports up to 380 minutes of talk time and 175 hours of standby time using a 800mAh lithium ion battery. It comes with a large touch-screen liquid crystal display and a maximum resolution of 320x240 pixels.
As a PDA, the A6188 is equipped with applications like the phonebook, schedule, world clock, voice memo, notepad/inkpad with SMS (Short Message Service) capabilities, dictionary, calculator and games. The phonebook stores up to 1,000 entries which are interlinked between the phone memory and the SIM card for easy retrieval and access. The A6188 incorporates Motorola's Wisdom Pen Handwriting Recognition which allows users to input data using free-style writing in English. Sketched graphics can also be stored using the inkpad facility, and sent as faxes or SMS to other A6188 phone users.
One prominent feature of the Motorola Accompli A6188 is the TrueSync technology, which is used in conjunction with a cable link or IrDA. This gives users the convenience of synchronising phonebook and scheduler entries with other devices like personal computers and Motorola hand-held gadgets. Mobile Internet access is enabled through the WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) 1.1 Browser.
The Motorola Accompli A6188 phone comes with an 800mAh lithium ion battery, a desktop charger, a universal travel charger, a conventional handsfree set, a data cable (for PC synchronisation), a leather pouch and stylus. Optional accessories include a cigarette lighter adaptor, leather pouch and stylus bundle of a different design and two other handsfree headsets.
