Motorola Timeport P7689

The Timeport P7689 is Motorola's latest GSM tri-band mobile phone designed for the globetrotter. Besides allowing users to roam on GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 networks around the world, the phone is equipped with mobile Internet access via a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) 1.1 micro browser.

Integrating a scheduler that can hold up to 1,000 entries, the P7689 comes bundled with TrueSync software for synchronisation with desktop PCs via the built-in infrared port. With a screen that displays up to five lines of text, this Motorola phone incorporates iTAP predictive text entry technology which speeds up text input when you are using the SMS, scheduler and phonebook. The P7689 also supports voice activation for phone dialing and quick access features plus voice memo recording and Customising of ringtones.

Like most Motorola phones, the P7689 offers the standard DTX power-saving option. When activated, it switches off the transmitter when the user is not speaking, thereby saving battery power. Other notable features of the P7689 include an expanded phonebook (300 entries), vibration call alert, and three games.

Available in aluminum, graphite, silver and titanium colours, the Timeport P7689 is worth considering if you are looking for a triband WAP phone for traveling purposes.
