Qld govt finishes CIO reshuffle

The Queensland Government yesterday said it had hired executive directors to head up three separate ICT units within its Chief Information Office, including Alan Chapman, who had previously headed up the office as the executive director.

In December last year, the Queensland Government said it would split its Chief Information Office into three separate units to focus on priority areas in its ICT strategy, with Chapman expected to reapply for one of the roles.

The Chief Information Office yesterday confirmed in a statement that Chapman was now heading up the ICT policy and coordination office, intended to coordinate high-level ICT policy from a whole-of-government perspective and manage Queensland's input into the national IT agenda.

One of the other units, the Telecommunications, Broadband and Digital Economy coordination office was being headed by Dallas Stower, former chief information officer (CIO) of Queensland Rail, whilst the last of the three units, the public sector development office, which was to liaise with other agencies on their IT directions and keep up a conversation with the industry, was being headed by Terry Beitz. Beitz was formerly an executive director for information communications systems at the Department of Community Safety.

The restructure came into effect on 1 April, according to the Chief Information Office.
