The Cassiopeia E-125 is the big brother of the two Windows CE-powered
PDAs from Casio. It is roughly the same size and shape of an average
Walkman, and weighs in at 250g. It features 32MB of RAM, which is
plenty of room to hold all your applications and files.
The case is extremely solid and robust with a dotted metallic look front, and a purple-grey inset and back. The screen is quite bright and easy to use in most light conditions. To protect the screen, it is slightly recessed and it comes with a nylon case with a reinforced front and rear panel. The stylus is a two-tone grey with a white tip that slots in along the right side for easy access.
The front of the E-125 has a four-way disc for moving around the screen, or you can simply tap on the touch-sensitive screen in the location you want. Under the disc is the microphone, which is in a good location while the PDA is flat in your hand, but is very difficult to point to another person to record a conversation. Other buttons on the front include: Menu, Calendar, and Contacts. The left side has the headphone connector, power button, a Windows Start button, a scroll and activate shuttle, the quick record button, and the infra-red port. The top has a slot cover that removes to insert any Compact Flash II devices, including the optional JK710 camera. On the bottom, there is a slide to protect the docking connector and also the DC in for charging the batteries.
All the basic Windows CE applications are installed, and there are a selection of additional applications on the included CD. These include a task switcher, video converter, video player, Mobile Emailer, and a two-hole demo of Zio Golf for WinCE.
The docking station is a simple plastic dock with a single button to release the device. It has connections for power and a USB cable. The battery pack is rated to last about eight hours under normal use. The speaker quality was reasonable, but not up to the standard of the iPaq. The E-125 is a good unit with some nice features, but is probably a little pricey compared to some of the brands that are better known for making PCs.
