Mazerski is the president of the US retail and network services unit for Primus Australia's global parent, Primus Telecommunications Group Incorporated. He will take up the Australian CEO role, effective immediately.

Alongside his CEO role for Australia, Mazerski will also be the chief marketing officer for the global group.

According to his profile on the Primus site, he has been with the group since November 2009, before which he worked as a senior consultant to the CEO at cable, phone and internet provider RCN Corporation. He has founded businesses including CloseCall America and Gateway Communications Services company, and has spent 20 years with Verizon. He holds a patent with four others for the "System and method for secure web-based mobile phone parental controls".

"Having been involved in projects for Verizon in 1991 to 1992 in Australia, and being here now for several weeks, I know just what a special place this is. The people I have met have treated me with kindness and respect, and I feel fortunate to be able to take on this assignment," Mazerski said in a statement.

"The new Primus Australia will be an exciting place to work for our employees, and our customers will begin to see positive changes right away. Soon, we will launch our 'Come Home to Primus' marketing program, with our 'No Worries' calling plans."
