Fraudsters are mass-mailing a message that appears to come from the bank with the subject of "Security Server Update".
"Our new security system will help you to avoid frequently fraud transactions and to keep your investments in safety," it says. "Due to technical update we recommend you to reactivate your account."
The message then directs recipients to a Web site that mimics the St. George online banking Web site. Users duped by the scam then enter their login and password into the fake site, and the details are captured by the criminals.
The fake site appears to have been shutdown.
The format of this latest scam is identical to other frauds that have targeted other online banking customers. The crooks even used the same grammatically incorrect text as previous cons.
