Survey: everybody loves their Greengrocer

Greengrocer.com.au has once again come out as top dog in the popularity stakes when it comes to online retailers, according to a recent survey.

The study, conducted by Australian research company Global Reviews, was based on 30,000 pieces of data from 70 top retailers in May.

It found that Greengrocer.com.au is still the preferred shopping site amongst Internet users with 89 percent performance, closely followed by new arrival David Jones.

According to Global Reviews, one of the major findings of the study was the continued improvement of -clicks and mortar" players.

-Established retailers are now taking the online channel far more seriously," rather than simply experimenting with the Internet, acccording to Global Reviews founding director, Dr Adir Shiffman.

The research discovered that overall, most retailers delivered the right product on time and in good condition.

-The major players are finally realising that if a multi-channel approach is to be implemented, the online component represents a major risk to brand equity and must be taken seriously," Global Review founding director Adam Goodvach said.

Australia's largest retailer Coles Myer's popularity stakes were varied -- with Myer Direct rising to 11th position and Kmart falling to 63rd position.

Offline bookstore Angus and Robertson rated poorly compared to its competitor Collins Books which scored 80 percent in the ratings.

Global Reviews believes the discrepancy highlights the varying attitudes of established retailers in their online forays, even within a particular industry.
