In the first part of this four part interview, Tim Anderson, Information Services Director, talks to ZDNet Australia about the sheer size of the DET's IT infrastructure and describes how the organisation goes about preparing itself for a possible migration of about 130,000 desktops to Windows Vista.

"We are currently standardised on Windows XP but as you understand in an organisation of this size we still have a large number of machines that are simply not able to run the current version. We do have some legacy Windows 98 and Windows 2000 platforms," said Anderson.
