Rosetta is intended to provide a whole-of-government integrated and automated directory service for people, resources, assets and services, as well as identity management capabilities.
The successful tenderer will be required to design and implement directory infrastructure across the ten core government departments, develop identity management frameworks, and implement extended business functionality.
According to Multimedia Victoria, this directory infrastructure will produce significant gains in security, efficiency and effectiveness across departments and agencies, and it will provide a platform for further initiatives over the next few years.
Connecting existing directories will not of itself provide any new services, but it will make it easier for staff, citizens and businesses to access government information.
When tenders were invited last September, Marsha Thomson, the Information and Communication Technology Minister, said "I'm confident Victorian ICT companies can play a key part in the success of this project".
