Supply chain overhaul next for CCA

Beverage specialist Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) today said it was planning to implement key new supply chain technology systems in its Australian business by the end of this year.

The initiative is part of the One Amatil information system, Project OAisys, upgrade the company has been carrying out for the past several years in coalition with German software maker SAP.

In March, CCA chief information officer Barry Simpson said the project remained on schedule, despite aggressive time lines.

Today in its regular results briefing, the company said it had successfully completed phase one of the project this year, with the implementation of new finance and human resource management systems, as well as new call centre and equipment service solutions.

"Phase two commence in early 2009, with payroll and demand planning solutions implemented in Australia, while key Australian supply chain execution systems, as well as the first phase of OAisys for the New Zealand business, will be implemented by the end of 2009," the company wrote.

The group did not say how much it had spent so far on the project, although it has previously been reported as being worth $65 million. CCA reported in February this year at its full year earnings that it had spent $20 million on OR/1 of OAisys last year for its Australian and New Zealand operations.

OAisys is a key component of CCA's wider infrastructure capital investment program, Project Zero, which includes the development of a $44 million automated warehousing system at Northmead and Eastern Creek.
