St George upgrades BI toolset

in brief St George Bank has completed an upgrade of its business intelligence (BI) tools to improve sales analysis and operational risk analysis.

Business Objects global services has been working since February to upgrade St George to the latest version of the vendor's BI platform, BusinessObjects XI Release 2.

Over 1,200 St George staff use the Business Objects platform for sales analysis, operational risk analysis, compliance reporting and loan management.

In loan management, the bank uses the BI tools to monitor how long each step of the loan approval process takes, and tries to make each step as short as possible.

"The move to BusinessObjects XI Release 2 has been great for us, as we have seen significant performance gains and more people are asking for access and new developments every day," said Gary Carter, general manager of IT relationships and group data warehouse, St George.

"Some of the larger reports and more advanced queries used to take several minutes to complete, and now they can take as little as a few seconds."
