REA Group bags CMC Markets' CIO

Realestate.com.au owner REA Group has nabbed its new chief information officer from contracts for difference (CFD) specialist CMC Markets Australia.

Daniel Oertli, REA Group's new CIO, rounds out the company's local management team. The appointment comes six months after former CIO Chris Vulovic announced her resignation from the company, shortly after it appointed Greg Ellis to the role of chief executive officer.

As head of technology for CMC Markets' Asia Pacific operations, Oertli had successfully "unified information technology development, infrastructure and support teams", according to a statement by REA Group.

He had also spent five years as vice president of IT and operations at corporate travel management company, Carlson Wagonlit.

"I'm very excited to have Daniel join the team. He has specific online portal experience, has managed international teams as large as 2,000 and has tremendous leadership skills," Ellis said in a statement.

Ellis had replaced Simon Baker after he abruptly departed in August last year, just five months after being appointed to the role.
