OneSteel renews CSC outsourcing contract

Steel specialist OneSteel has extended an existing IT services contract with CSC for at least another three years at a potential value of AU$50 million.

OneSteel has had a relationship with CSC since the steel giant was spun off from BHP in 2001, according to a statement issued by the IT services company this morning.

"The new three-year contract, which has options for another two years, has a total value of AU$50 million if all options are exercised," CSC said.

In CSC's statement, OneSteel general manager of eCommerce and Information Technology, Michael Dines, said alternatives to keeping CSC on board had been explored.

"With our IT services contract coming up for renewal, OneSteel embarked on a detailed evaluation of possible outsourcing providers," he said.

ZDNet Australia is seeking further information from OneSteel about the timing of the renewal and other details.
