in brief The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority has become the second Western Australian government department in as many weeks to upgrade to Microsoft's new Office 2007 product.
According to the state's contracts disclosure system, the authority bought some 45 copies of Office 2007 Professional and 70 copies of the standard version in late March. The total price of the software was AU$51,897.
The news comes two weeks after it was revealed WA's Department for Community Development had bought some 230 copies of Office 2007 Professional.
At the time, Microsoft's Information Worker division director Tony Wilkinson told ZDNet Australia the software giant was pleased with the local uptake of Office 2007. "Sales of the 2007 Office System have been strong across all market sectors," he claimed. Office 2007 was released to businesses in November 2006.
