in brief SAP will start 2007 with a new chief for its local operations after it appointed Alan Hyde as CEO to replace the recently promoted Geraldine McBride.

Hyde is currently general manager of SAP's northern region, which includes ACT, NSW, QLD and Fiji. He will become CEO for SAP Australia and New Zealand from January 1, 2007.

On the same day, McBride will become regional president of SAP Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

Hyde has only been with SAP for three years since joining from PeopleSoft.

However, McBride said in that time he had become a key member of her executive team.

-Under his stewardship, the business has grown significantly and he's built a team of trusted advisors for our customers and partners," she said.

Hyde has worked in the industry for over 20 years, including stints with IBM and Systems Software Associates.
