Microsoft launches Visual Studio .NET

Microsoft today launched its Visual Studio .NET and its .NET framework with the usual worldwide fanfare.

Microsoft is targeting developers with this launch, seeing it as a major part of its bid to drive its XML Web services.

The new products are touted as supporting more than 20 programming languages.

Visual Studio .NET and .NET framework have also been heralded for their broad beta testing, with the distribution of about 3.5 million pre-release copies.
