in brief A Melbourne man was yesterday found guilty on six offences relating to CD and DVD piracy in the Melbourne Magistrates Court and fined $24,000 plus prosecution costs.
The Music Industry Piracy Investigations (MIPI) claims that the man was running a global piracy operation from his Melbourne home, with over 7000 discs found when Federal Police raided the man's home.
MIPI's investigations manager, Dean Mitchell, said in a statement "[The] conviction reinforces the music industry's ongoing commitment to pursuing pirates and serves as a reminder that this type of conduct will result in criminal prosecutions."
The accused had pleaded guilty to the charges.

Any self-respecting pirate should read up on their Karl Marx.
Pirating for the sake of profit is filthy.
Pirating should be about Robin Hood, not robbing consumers.
