The council will replace Knowledgeone Corporation's RecFind with Avand's DataWorks as its primary document management system.
An initial rollout of DataWorks is expected next month, with training for 800 Latrobe staff to be completed by September, according to Avand.
Karla Leed, Latrobe City Council's EDRMS (Electronic Document and Records Management System) project manager, said the council had taken six months to select a product that let documents be electronically submitted to a central information repository.
"We had two primary objectives: to comply with state legislation for document management, and to build a central repository of shared information," she said.
An important factor in choosing the DataWorks product was its Victorian Electronic Records Strategy accreditation and that it integrated well with the council's existing workflow system, GEAC Pathway, said Leed.
