IT outsourcing giant CSC has sealed a five-year extension on its contract with Wesfarmers-owned retailer Kmart worth $36.4 million.
The deal will see CSC maintain IT infrastructure across around 400 Kmart, Kmart Tyre, and Auto retailers, and adds upon the deal inked in 2004 between CSC and Kmart's parent, retail giant Coles.
"CSC has worked hard to build a strong relationship with Kmart and the professionalism and quality of service from them has been a contributing factor in this major decision," Ian Baily, chief operating officer of Kmart Australia said in a statement.
"We are working closely together and leveraging skills to drive improvements that benefit both companies," he said.
Wesfarmers last year lost its Coles Group chief information officer, Peter Mahler, as the company moved to decentralise technology decisions to each business unit of Coles Group, which included Kmart and Target. Wesfarmers had acquired Coles Group in 2007.
