Hyperion head joins Capiotech

Local IT services firm Capiotech today revealed it had nabbed Thomas Palmer, former head of Hyperion Australia and New Zealand, to be its new managing director.

Oracle acquired business intelligence software vendor Hyperion in mid-2007 for US$3.3 billion. The fate of the company's local staff has so far been unclear. However, Capiotech today issued a statement saying it had picked up the executive.

"Thomas Palmer, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, moved to Australia in July 2005 to take on the role of managing director for Hyperion Australia and New Zealand," the statement said.

"He continued in this role through the acquisition of Hyperion by Oracle and integrated his team within Oracle as general manager for Oracle's enterprise performance management/business intelligence business unit in Australia and New Zealand."

Capiotech specialises in the provision of corporate analytics solutions, including systems built on Hyperion products.

"At Hyperion and then Oracle, we knew that if Capiotech was involved, the project would be implemented on time and within budget and we would have another very happy customer out there; which is what it is all about," said Thomas.

Capiotech's existing managing director, co-founder Steven Pennisi, will now take on the role of chief executive of the company.
