update Melbourne-based ERP vendor Mid-Comp International has trumped SAP and Lawson Software for a deal with agribusiness group Elders Limited that will see its software rolled out to 300 stores.

Elders' branch network works with farmers in areas such as supply chain, finance and real estate. Over 400 branches evaluated bids from the more than 100 vendors that replied to Elder's request for tender.

After nine months of evaluation, the tenderers were culled to a shortlist of three, including Lawson and SAP, before Mid-Comp prevailed, said Mid-Comp CEO Steve Bridges.

Elders would pilot the Odyssey supply chain and accounting software before August, he said, followed by a rollout to 300 stores in its merchandise division over the next 12 months.

The company could expand Odyssey to other divisions pending the success of the rollout, according to Bridges.

Elders has used its current legacy system for about 15 years but ongoing maintenance have proved too costly.

He declined to reveal the value of the contract, but said the project was worth AU$10 million to Elders.

The rollout will be managed by Mid-Comp and Elders' own IT staff.

Elders was not available to comment at press time.
