The first images of Google's new Web browser, Chrome, appear to have leaked via a Flickr user who has published screenshots of the application.

The shots appear to have come from a site that Google temporarily sent live this morning to publicise Chrome; but quickly took down. ZDNet.com.au's sister site CNET News.com has also published the screenshot.
The browser is based on the Webkit project, rather than using code from Mozilla's Firefox project, which has for a long time held a close association with Google.
Word first surfaced of Google's plans in a Web comic book introducing Google Chrome, the search giant's long-rumoured open source browser project. While the illustrations, created by cartoonist Scott McCloud, were not announced by Google, they do contain the quotes and likenesses of 19 Google developers.
