Compaq is offering free operating system (OS) upgrades to PocketPC 2002, for iPAQs bought between September 6 and November 30 this year.

The offer--timed to coincide with Microsoft's launch of PocketPC 2002 on October 4, and Compaq's launch of the iPAQ H3700 and H3800 on October 5--will allow existing iPAQ owners to run new PocketPC applications targeted at the new series.

However, no additional applications will come with the upgrade, a Compaq Singapore spokesperson said. For iPAQs purchased before or after the stated period, owners would have to pay US$29.95 (S$52.25) for the upgrade, excluding shipping and handling costs, as well as any taxes payable.

More information is available at the Compaq Web site.
