Firefox 3.1 beta now available

in brief A new testing version of the Firefox web browser, Firefox 3.1 beta 1, is now available for download from Mozilla.

The version, intended for testing by developers, was released overnight. According to the Mozilla website, the beta version of the browser contains a number of new features including: web standards improvements, added support for CSS 2.1 and 3 properties, a new tab switching shortcut and support for new web technologies.

Testing versions of the browser are available for Windows, Max OS X and Linux.

Firefox previously broke all records for the largest number of downloads in 24 hours after the release of Firefox 3.
