The move bolsters Deloitte's Web capabilities, adding to its 2002 purchase of another Web dev company, Eclipse Group. Eclipse chief Peter Williams today claimed Deloitte's move would create "the largest Web strategy and development business in Australia," with a new combined team of around 90 people, of which 20 will come from Chimo.
Chimo managing director Jason Bender said the move was a positive one for the two companies.
"Chimo can now benefit from a much greater resource pool, enabling us to scale our operations quickly to meet the needs of our growing list of clients," he said in a statement.
Deloitte chief executive Giam Swiegers said the move was part of its drive to redefine "the traditional scope of professional services".
Chimo's clients include government bodies at all levels, as well as corporates like Westpac, ABB Grain, BAE Systems, Futuris, Agpoint and Elders Rural Bank.
Deloitte's Eclipse group boasts government clients as well, but also includes companies such as Telstra, Holden and the Meat and Livestock Association.
