So, I still have to physically go to a bookstore....
It's 2009 guys, catch up
Visit a physical bookstore to buy an ebook that's emailed to me when I get home? That's hilarious.
The idea seems to be missing something, perhaps a slogan: comes with books or reads for sure just to highilght the level of aussie innovation that has gone into this product.
How about I visit Amazon.com instead and get the book delivered to my Kindle!
The whole idea of eBooks is to NOT visit a bookstore.
This sounds good for me because all I have is cash, no credit card/paypal. So if the machine accepts cash then it will find a new market of people.
You can use your bank account to pay for many items online, either using BPay or Direct Credit (ie you send the funds, not direct debit!), a debit visa/mastercard or even Poli.
And if Australia Post wasn't so damn expensive (ie even more than paypal!) you could also use Australia post to pay for your online purchases!
Some people prefer to hand over cash and get their goods, rather than hand over their details to companies.
A bookseller is not worthy of my email address.
Stupidest idea I've heard in a long time. Why would I go to a physical store to buy an e-book - try a website guys....
If I'm going to be bothered going to a store I want the physical dead tree version of the book.
The bookseller will be welcome to let me download an electronic version free of charge as a value add for supporting their physical store, instead of buying online, but it has to be in a format without DRM.
If they think I'm going to suffer the likes of Westfield to physically hand over money for something that's going to be locked with DRM and then have to go and download it from elsewhere, they need their heads checked.
do any of you visit any physical shops for anything? seriously? this is the 21st century. twits - of course you visit shops. you browse. you enjoy. you look.
of course this makes sense. you go to a bookshop and see the physical books and then you say, yeah, give me the e-book equivalent after browsing the real books. I'd do it and most of the population would do it.
now just waiting for the right e-reader, and the right price, and looking good for both in the new year.
and no, if you don't visit the retailer you should still be able to buy online. it will surely offer both. think about it before posting guys (malcolm, peter,.....)
Agree.
Love to browse the shelves. Would like the option to download instead of the expensive hardback.
Expect that full online download would also occur. If not, they are idiots.
Only thing to wait for is an acceptable reader and there are none as yet.
and this is what they come up with.. Guess i will have to keep getting my ebooks from elsewhere, i spend about $300 a year on ebooks and so far no-one in Australia is willing to take my money.. they all deserve to go out of businesses
