Asian boost lands open source in VoIP space

Indonesia-based software developer Trabas has pledged its faith in the open source community, releasing the source code for its VoIP billing management software under the GNU public licence.

The company said that releasing the software to the open source community will enable Internet telephony providers to deploy and modify the software in regions where the company has no representatives.

"We have used and believed in an open source portfolio since our inception in 1995, and this is not the first time we've contributed to the open source community," said Trabas managing director Rheza Sutedja.

Trabas claimed that the software has attracted the interest of telephony operators in the US, South America, Africa, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.
