The executive took VMware's reins on 8 July this year after his company Pi Corporation was acquired by VMware parent EMC earlier this year.

Maritz will attend the company's Virtualisation Forum, which will bring together over 1,200 attendees with 60 of VMware's local partners. He is also expected to speak with press and VMware staff locally.

The news comes as Microsoft supremo Steve Ballmer last week revealed plans for a trip down under in early November.
