Aussie enviro dept contracts SAP

The federal Department of the Environment and Heritage (DEH) has recently signed contracts worth AU$1.4 million with German enterprise applications vendor SAP.

The department administers environmental and heritage laws in Australia, as well as related matters such as advising the government and managing programs in those areas. As at 30 June 2006 it employed around 2,000 staff.

In mid-January, DEH disclosed the following contracts -- relating to software and services -- with SAP:

mySAP ERP maintenance fees -- one year (AU$273,319.20)
SRM blueprint (AU$73,920)
SAP business intelligence implementation (AU$105,710)
mySAP ERP upgrade project plan (AU$26,400)
SAP Enterprise Portal installation (AU$160,050)
mySAP ERP software licences -- five years (AU$778,305)

The disclosures came through the federal government's AusTender system. Like most government agencies, DEH is legally required to publish contracts, standing offers and purchase orders it signs above the value of AU$10,000.

A spokesperson for DEH could not immediately provide background to SAP's contract wins with the department. SAP did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.
