in brief Gold miner CitiGOLD has coughed up for a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) software system from Pronto Software.

CitiGOLD specialises in gold production, focusing on the Charters Towers fields in north Queensland. According to a statement issued by Pronto this afternoon, the miner plans to implement Pronto's PRONTO-Xi software in early 2007.

In the statement, CitiGOLD chief operating officer Chris Towsey said Pronto's solution was chosen due to its scalable, robust nature and its ability to meet industry-specific cost reporting requirements.

"We were referred to to a number of customers who were similar to us in terms of mining operations and how they were using Pronto-Xi," Towsey said. "We got the same answer from all of them; it did everything they wanted it to at a very good price."
