Centrelink buys software testing tools

Centrelink has acquired Agitar developer testing tools as it works to update its middleware platform, Centrelink Online.

Around 200 developers will use the Agitar testing tool and Management Dashboard to build a Java architectural framework for an update to Centrelink Online.

A key platform in the agency's delivery of electronic services, Centrelink Online was orginally developed in Forte.

The new Java framework will be reused across a number of Centrelink applications.

"Centrelink is always developing new applications and improving existing ones," said Centrelink project manager, standard application development environment, Paul Baumgarten.

The government welfare agency has signed a three year enterprise license for the tools. The acquisition follows a successful tender by Agitar partner Software Improvements, based in Canberra.

Jeff Pope, Agitar vice president for Asia Pacific, said the Centrelink order was the vendor's biggest to-date.
