Government utility SA Water has signed a customer and retail application support services contract with Hewlett-Packard Australia for a minimum of two years.

The contract covers support, maintenance and enhancement of SA Water's Customer Service Information System (CSIS), the billing engine responsible for all water products and services throughout South Australia. HP built the system for SA Water -- which delivers water and wastewater products to 1.4 million people across the state --in the mid-1990s.

The parties did not disclose the value of the deal.

CSIS also covers customer and property maintenance, meter management, application processing and receipting and recovery.

"This technology partnership will enable SA Water to focus its resources and deliver strategic benefits to its IT infrastructure," said Stephen Trainor, practice principal, public sector, HP Australia.

SA Water has the option to extend the deal for another two years.
