The company which bailed out the troubled online retailer dstore in December is under investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Administrators were appointed late yesterday to Harris Scarfe and its related companies.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) immediately launched an investigation.
"Following the appointment of voluntary administrators to the group and ASIC's receipt of confidential information from Harris Scarfe, we have commenced a formal investigation into possible accounting, disclosure and other offences," ASIC Chairman David Knott said in a statement.
"At this early stage, it is premature to speculate on the future scope of this investigation, but we will be working closely with the Voluntary Administators [KPMG] to ensure that all relevant inquiries are completed."
It's more bad news for the embattled online retailer dstore, which was bought by Adelaide-based Harris Scarfe, a bricks and mortar department store.
At the time Harris Scarfe said the deal represented excellent value for its shareholders and it was an opportunity it could not ignore.
