Snow White and her seven dwarfs have lost some of their innocence. People returning to work after the weekend are finding their inboxes crammed with a new virus, just waiting to be executed.
Yet another Trojan is waiting to wreck havoc on unsuspecting office workers who may mistakenly open an attachment with the subject "hahaha", thinking they're about to read a joke.
But it seems the joke may be on the perpetrator. Internet security provider Trend Micro has rated Snow White a "low risk" threat.
"We've had detection of the virus for quite some time," marketing manager at Trend Micro, Andy Liou, told ZDNet.
"It hasn't flared up. We don't expect any infection," Liou added
The determined virus writer seems to be "promoting" the Trojan by spamming people with the infected email, according to Liou. Some people have received up to eight copies of the message over the weekend.
It appears however, that company software is largely deleting the virus.
Liou is warning office workers to be wary about opening 'joke' attachments at this time of year, when the Christmas spirit is alive and well.
"Workers should be especially wary about running anything without scanning it first," Liou said.
