Uecomm hit by management reshuffle

Junior telco Uecomm is recasting its senior management mould, with the manager of its dial-up ISP unit resigning and others being shuffled into new shoes.

The management shake-out comes on the back of Uecomm's recent malfunctioning Internet switches on its broadband network which saw an interim moratorium on the connection of new customers.

Business manager of its dial-up ISP division UNITE, Joe Demase, has resigned and Bob Matthews has been appointed as strategic adviser.

Matthew's previous position of general manager, strategy, awaits a new appointment, according to the company.

Peter Mills, currently operations manager, has landed himself the new role of corporate development manager and Leo Cooper, currently NSW service delivery manager, has been promoted to the new role of national service delivery manager.

"The restructure is aimed at delivering sales growth and ensuring a continued high-quality service delivery to Uecomm's diverse customer base," the company said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Uecomm said it had undertaken "extensive corrective action" to address failing switching equipment and had resumed connecting new customers to its network.

Uecomm also said at the time that it had taken steps to address its fibre-optic cable shortage, and was now sourcing fibre-optic cable from offshore sources as well as from its local sources of supply.
