Macmillan Computer Publishing and EA Sports on Wednesday delivered the first true golfing game for 3Com's family of Palm computing devices by shipping Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf for Palm Computing Connected Organizers.

The miniaturised version of the game allows Palm golfers to play as Tiger Woods or seven other top PGA Tour golfers: Brad Faxon, Peter Jacobsen, Lee Janzen, Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Mark O'Meara and Craig Stadler. Golfers will also be able to play three Palm-sized world-class 18-hole courses at Tournament Players Club (TPC) at Sawgrass, TPC at Summerlin and the Las Vegas' Badlands Golf Club.

Palm golfers will get three modes of play in the title. First they will become acquainted with the title in practice/stroke mode, play against up to four other players in tournament mode, or play 18 holes in 30 minutes in fast-play mode.

'Logical evolution'
"We think this is a logical evolution of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour golf line," said Richard Hilleman, vice president and executive producer for EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour game franchise. "What better place to bring Tiger and the Tour than to the fastest-growing platform in the market?

"We have always loved handheld gaming. The Palm branded organizers give us the opportunity to bring that experience to a whole new audience."

GameSpot News had a rare chance to acquire a demo version of the title at E3 this year and has been playing the single-hole demo at Sawgrass ever since.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf for Palm Computing Connected Organizers is now available online at both EA and Macmillan's online stores and retailers for US$29.95 and has garnered 3Com's platinum certified seal of approval. Basic requirements for the title are a Windows-based Pentium 133, and a Palm machine running Palm OS 2.0 or better with 500KB of memory available.
