Telstra will help its customers to support research to reduce infant mortality by allowing them to request a Red Nose icon to be sent directly to their mobile phone screens.
Telstra, in conjunction with technology partner iTouch Australia, has committed to donate all proceeds from the sale of Red Nose icons to SIDSaustralia (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
"This is a fun and convenient way for Telstra customers to be involved in fundraising without having to shop around for a Red Nose or badge -- it is like letting your fingers do the walking," Telstra group marketing manager, wireless multimedia, Jonathan Crabtree, said.
"Innovative mobile phone technology can play an important role in charity fundraising and as you can do almost anything electronically today, why not request a Red Nose to be sent directly to your mobile phone?"
MobileNet customers can have the official Red Nose icon sent to their mobiles by sending the SMS text message red.nose, to the number 176.
Users can also download the icon from the Internet -- www.telstra.com/info/rednose.
Red Nose Day takes place on June 29, to raise funds for SIDSaustralia.
