Telstra denies responsibility for Sydney phone outage

ISDN telephone lines have experienced widespread outages today with calls around Sydney cutting out intermittently.

Telstra has denied responsibility but confirmed the problem had been reported. The problem is believed that the problem stems from line congestion in the suburbs of Crows Nest and North Sydney.

Telco maintenance company Network Techs told ZDNet most of its Sydney customers had complained of regular outages. All customers that ran telephony systems based on ISDN or "on ramp" protocols, such as PABX systems, had been affected.

The maintenance company had contacted Telstra but Telstra claimed no responsibility, Network Techs said.

ZDNet Australia will post an update on this story as details become available.
