The figures, which were allegedly compiled by ACNielson.consult and emailed to ZDNet by a third party , suggest the telco's service was unavailable for 22 percent of the time and compares with 27 outages for Telstra's cable network between August 1999 and March 2001, and 13 cable outages for Optus.
ACNeilson.consult refused to confirm that it compiled the figures, but did say that Optus@Home -is killing" Telstra's ADSL service.
"ADSL is going through the same teething problems cable went through ... but Optus@Home is streets ahead of the competition (Telstra BigPond)," senior analyst at ACNeilson.consult, Richard Gillis, said. -The gap's widening," he added.
ACNielson.consult monitors how many times ADSL upstream connectivity is down, as well as authentication server problems.
Commenting on Telstra BigPond's upstream connectivity, Gillis said glitches -haven't been happening as frequently", however, access server problems -have really been getting a lot worse over the last couple of months".
"It was going okay in January...but the wheels have started to drop off," he said.
Optus@Home, on the other hand, is up 99 percent of the time, is at least twice as fast as Telstra and when is does have -downtime" it's not down for days at a time, Gillis said.
-It [Telstra ADSL] basically drops out every day."

Telstra should be giving credits or not charging for services they haven't provided , as its acceptable to most people that there will be problems with most things in life.....but this is beyond a joke.
Stick with Optus Home and lets get some more competition going too.
