Victorian Secondary students, rushing to discover their VCE results via the Net have driven the Victorian Board of Studies Web site to 5th position on the overall Hitwise charts this week.
It's traffic many commercial sites would dream of.
Data for December 11 shows that the Board of Studies site captured 1.7 percent of all Australian traffic and 20.7 percent of all education-related traffic on Monday, lifting it over 150 places up the overall Hitwise rankings in one day.
Students were also quick to visit the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre, which handles applications for tertiary studies in Victoria.
The VTAC site captured 7.14 percent of Australian 'education' traffic on Monday and jumped from 208th to 24th place in the overall rankings overnight.
The VTAC site placed fourth in terms of education sites in the daily rankings for December 12, behind Monash University and Melbourne University, both of which experienced traffic increases throughout this week, despite being knocked off the top spots in the education category.
The surge in traffic also affected the performance of the entire education category, which jumped from a 4.99 percent share of all Australian traffic to 8.39 percent after the release of the results.
