Sports broadcast technology outfit Pineapplehead has signed an agreement with ICE Interactive to jointly develop interactive television products for sports broadcasts.

"Combining ICE Interactive's technology with Pineapplehead's television sports content and alliances with sports broadcasters is expected make both companies more competitive on the global scale and gain new revenues from interactive television," Pineapplehead CEO Evan Kourambas said in a statement.

"Sports content is a key driver of subscriber and viewer growth for network operators and broadcasters globally," he added.

Interactive television software developer ICE -- backed by Oracle, Liberate Technologies and venture capital company Burdekin Pacific -- believes its sports TV applications and professional capabilities complement Pineapplehead's sports broadcast graphics and statistics technology.

"This alliance combines live sports broadcast software, statistical data and graphics with ICE's software development capabilities to deliver compelling interactive sports broadcast enhancements," said Martin Oldfield, VP, corporate development at ICE.

"The alliance is a major milestone in the implementation of ICE's global sports strategy," ICE's business development manager, Nick Love, added.
