Australian ISP giant, OzEmail has announced a new agreement with nationwide retailer, Harvey Norman, to deliver its starter kits with all new computers sold through the stores, taking over the role from archrival Telstra Big Pond.

In signing up the deal, OzEmail has frozen Telstra's Big Pond out of the picture. Prior to this agreement Big Pond had an exclusive deal with Harvey Norman to provide start-up cds to Harvey Norman's computer customers.

OzEmail Internet's General Manager, Justin Milne said that the new deal will expand his company's relationship with the major computer retailer.

"A strong relationship with Harvey Norman, who is the leading retailer of computers for the consumer market, provides us with a unique opportunity to increase our market share through retail channels," he stated. "We see the retail channel as a crucial part of our marketing mix going forward and it's fantastic to have pride of place with Australia's greatest IT retailer."

The decision to partner with OzEmail was strongly influenced by the ISPs strong profile in the market, according to Harvey Norman's General Manager, John Slack-Smith.

"Being able to connect when you dial your ISP is fundamental and for the last three months OzEmail has had an unblemished record of 100% availability for Sydney according to www.consult's Probe Report," Slack-Smith noted. "OzEmail also has a range of plans to suit different levels of usage, providing improved options for subscribers."
