Two of Australia's top online employment sites, Seek and JobNet have announced a new partnership that will see the two firms jointly marketing their services to IT recruitment firms.
The move will see the two sites making a more aggressive move into what is already one of the most hotly contested recruitment area on the Internet - IT recruiting. The alliance will see the two firms sharing some of their advertising base, and presenting a unified front to IT recruitment firms.
Seek and JobNet both offer advertisements in a wide range of job categories, however in the IT recruitment area they are both in competition with specialist sites such as Fairfax's IT Jobs which directly targets the IT industry. As IT jobs currently take up the largest percentage of total job ads online the two companies appear to be attempting to consolidate their positions in this lucrative market.
JobNet's Managing Director, Mr Kim Scott, said that the move will give both firms a more solid position in the IT job sector.
"The combination of services offered by JobNet and Seek will provide an unparalleled total Internet recruitment solution for IT agencies and job seekers," Scott stated.
Seek's CEO, Paul Basset remarked that the service will also offer better value for recruitment firms looking to maximise their online advertising budgets.
"Seek and JobNet provide recruitment firms with great value by gaining exposure for their jobs through both sites, maximising the benefits that can be derived from the Internet."
