No survivors in Telstra plane crash: report

A big air search in Far North Queensland has located the wreckage of a plane believed to have been carrying three Telstra workers on board.

Reports say there was no sign of survivors.

The twin-engine Aero-commander appears to have hit the north-west side of Thorntons Peak in Cape Tribulation National Park, according to ABC Radio reports.

Telstra has confirmed that a light aircraft missing in Far North Queensland was chartered by the telco to transport staff to an island to carry out design work on a communications system.

Telstra State Manager, Corporate Affairs, Steve Johnston said two staff from the telco's subsidiary company NDC Limited and one Telstra employee were on board.

The workers were from Townsville.

The plane disappeared from radar while flying from Cairns to Hicks Island.
